HI All. Want to share my information related the Veritas NetBackup discovery by RMSP. I had two cases already related to missing NetBackups in the RMSP console after a discovery . There were two reasons why this happened:

  1. RMSP try to find the backup information by the content db name and content SQL instance name. The format of the SQL instance was unexpected for RMSP search pattern. The check by SQL name is not necessary if you have only one SQL instance on the host. So I had commented SQL instance check. Sure, in the future release of the RMSP NetBackup agent, we should improve the SQL instance checking.
  2. Some permissions were missed for Veritas NetBackup SQL agent. So even via Veritas GUI I had no able to see the created backups. We still investigating this issue on customer side...

We were able to see the backups via NetBackup MS SQL Client, after the client has been added into the Policy on the Veritas server side. But still the backups were not visible  in the RMSP console because RMSP NetBackup Agent 1.0.1 uses the "bplist -t 15 -R \" without -C and -S parameters (client and server names). When the parameters were added (e.g. "bplist -t 15 -C clientname -S servername -R \") backups appeared in the RMSP console. It is good! But I didn't get why the bplist command doesn't works without parameters like in my environment.
